An attractive tetradrachm from Selinos

SICILY. Selinos. Circa 455-409 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 17.05 g, 9 h). ΣΕΛΙΝ-ΟΝ[Τ]-ΙΟN Apollo and Artemis standing left in a quadriga moving slowly to left; Artemis holding the reins and Apollo drawing his bow. Rev. Σ-ΕΛ-Ι-Ν-Ο-Σ The river-god Selinos, horned and nude, standing left, holding laurel branch in his left hand and a phiale in his right; to left, garlanded altar; before altar, a rooster standing left; to right, selinon leaf over a bull standing left on a base. Schwabacher 11. SNG ANS 692 (same dies). Rare. A nicely toned example of excellent classical style. The usual beginning die break on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.
